Kotake-mukaihara is a junction first and a neighborhood station second. Its two parallel island platforms and four tracks opened on 24 June 1983, and they are where the Yurakucho Line and the Fukutoshin Line stop sharing: from Wakoshi down to this station the two lines use the same tracks and the same platforms, and here they part company, with separate platforms from Senkawa onward. The Seibu Yurakucho Line joins at the same point, numbered SI37 by its own operator alongside Y06 and F06.

The Fukutoshin Line platform number was added on 14 June 2008, the day that line opened, and waist-height platform edge doors went in the same month. The consequence of all this is traffic: Tokyo Metro counted 184,844 entries and exits a day in the 2025 survey at a Nerima station with four street exits. Trains through here run onto Seibu and Tobu tracks, and on the Fukutoshin Line onward to Tokyu, Minatomirai and Sotetsu as well.

Finding Kotake-mukaihara on the signs

Every line gives the station its own letter-and-number code. You never have to read the Japanese name to find the right platform.

Station numbers at Kotake-mukaihara

Tokyo signposts every platform, exit and train door with a letter and a two-digit number. Matching the number is faster than reading the name — and it is what you will see on the map, in announcements and on the platform edge.

Japan publishes two subway timetables: 平日 weekdays and 土休日 Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays. There is no separate Sunday timetable, and the December 30 – January 3 period runs the holiday timetable.

Frequently asked questions

On the Wakoshi side of Kotake-mukaihara the Yurakucho and Fukutoshin lines run over one pair of tracks and call at the same platforms all the way to Wakoshi. This station is where they separate: beyond it each line has its own tracks, and stations such as Senkawa and Kanamecho give them separate platforms.

The Seibu Yurakucho Line meets the subway here and its trains continue onto Tokyo Metro tracks, which is why Seibu gives the station its own number, SI37. Services from Seibu run through to both the Yurakucho and Fukutoshin lines rather than terminating.

Kotake-mukaihara Station is served by the Yurakucho Line and Fukutoshin Line. Its station numbers are Y06, F06 — one per line, and that is what the platform signs, the maps and the announcements use.

According to the operators’ own accessibility pages there is a step-free route from the street through the gates to the platform. Tokyo Metro: the “1-route” (step-free street-gate-platform path by elevator, slope, stair lift or wheelchair escalator) is complete at all 180 stations; a separate list shows stations with an elevator-only 1-route. Lift locations and opening hours are on the operator page linked in the accessibility section above.
