Independence

This is an independent guide. It is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. or by the Bureau of Transportation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (Toei). “Tokyo Metro”, “Toei”, “Suica” and “PASMO” are trade marks of their owners; line, station and ticket names are used here only to identify the services described. Neither operator’s logo or map is reproduced.

Accuracy

Timetables, station information and fares are generated from the operators’ published data and are regenerated when that data changes. Service can change at short notice. Always check tokyometro.jp or kotsu.metro.tokyo.jp before you travel. To the extent permitted by law we accept no liability for missed connections or for decisions taken on the basis of this site.

Where the information comes from

This site does not print a source note on every page, so here is the full answer in one place. None of it makes tokyosubway.org an official source: it is an independent guide built on published data.

Kind of informationSource
Lines, stations, station numbers and the order of the stationsThe operators’ own railway and station records published through the Public Transportation Open Data Center (ODPT): Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. and the Bureau of Transportation, Tokyo Metropolitan Government (Toei). Used under the ODPT terms of use, CC BY 4.0.
First and last trains, running times and the route plannerThe two operators’ official GTFS timetables, published through the same open-data centre and valid from March 14, 2026 to March 12, 2027, cross-checked against their per-station timetable records. Japan publishes two subway timetables, 平日 (weekdays) and 土休日 (Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays); those are the two this site shows.
Fares, passes and IC card rulesTokyo Metro’s and Toei’s own fare pages, the Toei fare-revision notices, the PASMO site, and the operators’ per-station fare records in the open data. Both operators block automated requests, so the official pages were read from archived copies whose dates are recorded. The Tokyo Metro ↔ Toei connecting discount is a published rule, not a published table; we apply the rule and show the arithmetic.
AccessibilityTokyo Metro’s and Toei’s own per-station accessibility pages, rendered one station at a time because both block scripted access. Nothing is inferred: where the operator does not list a facility, the page says it is not listed.
Passenger numbersThe operators’ passenger surveys in the open data (daily average of entries plus exits; Tokyo Metro FY2025, Toei FY2024). One survey can cover several lines at the same station, so the figures are not summed per line.
Opening dates, Japanese names and readings, wardsJapanese and English Wikipedia and Wikidata (CC BY-SA 4.0), used for history and cross-checking only, never as the sole source for service, fares or accessibility.
Places near a station© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), from a regional extract of the Kanto area. The walking time shown beside each place is an estimate from the straight-line distance.
The subway mapAn unofficial map from Wikimedia Commons under CC BY-SA 4.0, credited where it appears. The operators’ official maps are copyrighted and are not reproduced here.
The service status boardNo live feed. The board compares the current time in Tokyo with the published timetable and says only whether a line is within its service hours. It is not a disruption feed and does not claim to be.

Copyright and licences

The text, page design and code of this site are ours. Timetable, station and fare data remain the operators’; they are used under the ODPT terms of use (CC BY 4.0). Information about places near stations is © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Subway map: adapted from “Tokyo Subway Linemap en” by Yveltal (Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0) by tokyosubway.org — the four Toei line colours, changed to the values the operators publish as open data. This adaptation is published under CC BY-SA 4.0 as well. It is not the operators’ official map.
