Tatsumi Station (辰巳)
Y23 opened on 8 June 1988, the day the Yurakucho Line was completed east to Shin-kiba across the reclaimed ground of Tokyo Bay; Tatsumi stands on what was landfill number seven. The concourse and the single ticket hall are at B2 and the island platform at B3.
Building it was awkward, because the ground here is soft. The half of the box towards Shin-kiba, under the greenway, was sunk as a line of pneumatic caissons, while the half towards Ikebukuro, under the playground of Tatsumi Elementary School, was dug by cut-and-cover. The park gave the station its decoration: the designers took a forest as their theme, and panels of trees run along the wall by the gates and around the name boards on the platform. A crossover at the Shin-kiba end once let trains turn back here, and has since been taken out. Platform doors came into use on 23 November 2013. In 2025 Tatsumi was used by 28,280 people on an average day.
Finding Tatsumi on the signs
Every line gives the station its own letter-and-number code. You never have to read the Japanese name to find the right platform.
Station numbers at Tatsumi
Tokyo signposts every platform, exit and train door with a letter and a two-digit number. Matching the number is faster than reading the name — and it is what you will see on the map, in announcements and on the platform edge.

Tatsumi is a quiet stop on the made ground of Koto, with the Tatsumi Greenway running past about 70 m from the exits and Tatsumi Elementary School about 90 m away. The Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center is the single destination most visitors are heading for. Otherwise the district is wide roads, canals and housing between Toyosu, one stop away, and Shin-kiba at the end of the line.

Frequently asked questions
The greenway beside the station gave the designers their theme. Forest panels were set along the wall near the ticket gates and around the name boards on the platform, which is otherwise a plain island box three floors below the street.
In two different ways. The ground is soft, so the end towards Shin-kiba was built as a series of pneumatic caissons sunk under the greenway, while the end towards Ikebukuro, which lies beneath a school playground, was built by ordinary cut-and-cover.
